This was recorded yesterday, if you run the video back you'll see a bird on the nest most of the time.
She has been on this morning, but is spending some time away from the nest.

@@CarnyxWild Hi, just found Coquet started yesterday, I didn't get notifications so have unsubscribed & subscribed again as I've seen this happen a lot on UA-cam. Hopefully will get notified from now on. Great to see the Puffins this morning, hoping for a good season for all the birds.

Dogs are less of a problem. The most lethal pest to ground dwelling birds is the domestic cat. It single handedly sent some species into extinction, especially in Australia.
The egg has finally disappeared, hopefully taken by RSPB for avian flu check to be made. I'd really appreciate feedback about Coquet, some up to date information about the birds as RSPB website info is woefully out of date. Nobody answers email enquiries either, as a paid up member for years I'd like a bit more in return to know what my money is being spent on!
Hi Annie, They are doing some detailed research in Scotland as this was first region hit with HPAI and so returns test results that can inform areas and reserves further south. Indeed this research helps inform the staff at Coquet of what to do and what not to do. On the RSPB website there is a detailed article 'A summer of seabird surveys: understanding avian influenza' and their Blog 'Bird flu updates' pages are relevant and informative. So my feeling is that the RSPB website is up to date and the staff are working hard during this difficult period.
@@CarnyxWild Hi, I know they're working hard at a heartbreaking time for them. I wasn't criticising them but I haven't been able to find anything for this year on the website, all I could find was 2022. I find it a bit cumbersome to use but if there's something there I'll look again later. Without the co-operation of the UK government they're limited in what they can do aren't they. UK govt don't seem interested from what I've read. Thank you for your reply.
